  • A city earns a badge when the information reported meets the minimum CRF requirements for a corresponding phase of the SEACAP after submitting information via one of the official GCoM reporting platforms (JRC offline reporting template or CDP-ICLEI Track).
  • The badges are intended to reward achievement and progression within the different phases of participation of a city in the GCoM/CoM SSA initiative – from commitment, to planning, to implementation and monitoring.
  • The badge system provides an overview of the engagement of a city “at a glance,” and can be used by signatories as a communication and promotion tool.
  • The badges can also connect cities with opportunities, resources, and other cities engaged in the same steps or processes.
  • Badges are organised around the three pillars of the SEACAP(Mitigation, Adaptation and Access to Energy) and capture signatory progress across the different phases and milestones in each pillar.
  • GCoM and CoM SSA recognises signatory progress by issuing badges shared with the global community, which are displayed on the GCoM and CoM SSA websites.

How are badges awarded?

The process to award badges is as follows:
Signatories can receive a maximum of 11 badges for the completion of their full SEACAP.

When is the SEACAP fully validated?

The SEACAP is fully validated only once:

  • Each step of the three pillars have met the requirements of the CRF
  • All of the badges for each pillar and the Compliance Badge have been awarded
