MODULE 1: Setting the scene

This module introduces the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA), the history of the initiative, and identifies the role and function of the Secretariat and Technical Helpdesk. The module also explores the benefits to signatories and the regional impact of the initiative.

After completing this module, you will understand the background and importance of developing a Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAP) and be equipped to start creating your own. You will be able to describe how climate change is impacting cities globally, as well as in Africa, and identify the linkages between climate change and urban development.
